St. John’s Hospice & Palliative Care focuses on providing comfort and care for our patients in a compassionate and holistic manner. Rather than curing an illness, hospice provides care and support for people who are terminally ill (expected to live six months or less, if the illness runs its normal course) as well as for their families.

Services may include:

  • Medical Director oversight

  • Skilled nursing visits, weekly or more often, if needed

  • Personal care services administered by a Certified Nursing Assistant or hospice aide, such as bathing, as often as needed each week

  • Assistance in finding and applying for available social services, if needed

  • Spiritual assistance by a hospice chaplain,

  • Assistance with drugs, equipment, and supplies for the terminal illness and related conditions

  • Counseling for both patient and their family/caregivers

  • Palliative care – providing care for a condition other than the terminal illness, access to information, and help making choices about a patient’s health care

Hospice team members may include:

  • Doctors

  • Nurses or Nurse Practitioners

  • Counselors

  • Social Workers

  • Pharmacists

  • Physical and Occupational Therapists
